Tape your back with kinesiology tape

Man doing sports exercises with his back taped with kinesiology tape

A large part of the population now works several hours a day in front of the computer, i.e. they are mainly sedentary. Due to the little movement and monotonous posture, this can lead to tension in the area of the lumbar spine and lower back and, for example, make bending difficult and restrict mobility.

The elasticity of kinesiology tape can give the back the necessary stability without restricting mobility too much, for example to pursue your passion for sports or to give a more comfortable feeling with tension in everyday life. Note: In the case of acute back pain, it is always advisable to consult a doctor who can determine the cause of the injury or pain in the lower back area.

  • Tape the back: Step 1

First, take one of the I-Tapes and stick it on your lower back a little near your lumbar spine. You can bend down during the taping and then apply the tape without pulling, or you can apply the tape strips to your back while standing and pulling.

Now take the second I-tape and apply it parallel to the first, slightly next to the lumbar spine on the other side. You are welcome to use the same color of kinesiology tape for these two parallel strips of tape.

  • Tape the back: Step 2

Take the third I-tape and tear it in the middle so that you can stick the kinesiology tape in the middle. Now stick the tape strip across the two parallel, previously attached I-tapes. For the taping of several strips on top of each other, it is advisable to use tapes with different colors. Finally, rub the kinesiology tape strips again to fully activate the adhesive through the frictional heat and the taping of the back is complete.

Tips for using kinesiology tape

Round off the corners

Before taping, round off the edges with scissors so that the corners don't peel off so easily. You don't need to do this with pre-cut kinesiology tapes because the corners are already rounded

Stroke the tape several times

After you have applied the tape, rub the tape several times to activate the adhesive

Clean skin

Make sure your skin is dry and clean before taping.

It is advisable to shave the area beforehand when using it with thicker hair, so that the kinesiology tape holds better and it is easier to remove after use.

Creases on the tapes during use are normal

It is normal and intended that waves may form on the tape after application during muscle relaxation. These are even intended and are called convolutions.

To ensure the compatibility of the kinesiology tape with your skin, we recommend that you test a small piece of tape on the skin in advance and leave it there for about 30 minutes.

If you experience itching or an allergic reaction, remove the Kinesiology Tape and stop using it.
