Elbow taping with kinesiology tape

Man with kinesiology tapes taped around his elbow to stabilize it

In everyday life, we often put a lot of strain on our elbows, which is also one-sided, which often leads to tension, hardening and other painful sensations. Such pain can limit us enormously in everyday life.

Kinesiology tape can be used to give the elbow stability and limit painful movements without immobilizing the entire elbow joint.

  • Tape elbows: Step 1

Hold the arm you want to tape your elbow on at about a 90 degree angle. Stick on the first I-tape with the beginning of the tape in the middle and slightly above the elbow joint without pulling. Rub briefly over the starting point to activate the glue. Now stick the tape around the elbow joint on the outside of the elbow with a slight pull and a slight bend. The end of the kinesiology tape is glued again without tension in the middle below the elbow joint, roughly parallel to the beginning.

  • Tape elbows: Step 2

Take the second i-tape. You can use a different color of kinesiology tape or the same color as in the first taping step. The application of the tape is identical to the first step, except that you now stick the tape on the inside of the elbow. At the end, stroke the kinesiology tape on the elbow several times from the inside to the outside so that the adhesive power can develop optimally through the frictional heat.

Tips for using kinesiology tape

Round off the corners

Before taping, round off the edges with scissors so that the corners don't peel off so easily. You don't need to do this with pre-cut kinesiology tapes because the corners are already rounded

Stroke the tape several times

After you have applied the tape, rub the tape several times to activate the adhesive

Clean skin

Make sure your skin is dry and clean before taping.

It is advisable to shave the area beforehand when using it with thicker hair, so that the kinesiology tape holds better and it is easier to remove after use.

Creases on the tapes during use are normal

It is normal and intended that waves may form on the tape after application during muscle relaxation. These are even intended and are called convolutions.

To ensure the compatibility of the kinesiology tape with your skin, we recommend that you test a small piece of tape on the skin in advance and leave it there for about 30 minutes.

If you experience itching or an allergic reaction, remove the Kinesiology Tape and stop using it.
