Discover our kinesiology tape und secure the following benefits:
Support the healing of the affected area without giving up physical activities. Kinesiology tapes are highly elastical, mostly coloured plasters made of cotton. Their origin lies in Japan around the 1970s. The effect is based on the assumption that the healing period can be shortened when the affected area won’t be immobilised and can be moved during the injury or inflammation. The primary use of the tapes is in alternative medicine and also in competitive sport to shorten the healing period and stabilise the muscles, ligaments and joints. The effect of kinesiology tape isn’t clinically proven but is used very often because of positive practical results from millions of people. An application that kept in memory was the goal celebration of Mario Balotelli after his goal against Germany in the Euro semi finals in 2012. Not only in football, but also in disciplines like basketball, tennis, golf or jogging the tape is used extensively.

What is kinesiology tape and how to use it? - Simply explained
Because of its material characteristic of 130 to 140 percent extensibility, the elasticity of kinesiology tape is like the human skin. It should stabilise our muscles, joints and ligaments and allow us physical activity and movements of the affected areas during injury or inflammation. Because the tape is applied when the body parts are tensed, it supports the movement and reduces the necessary force for the muscles, joints and ligaments. Imagine the application of the shoulder. If the arms hang down, the skin on the shoulder is stretched the most. That's the condition where the kinesiology tape is applied. If you raise your arms, your skin (and also the kinesiology tape) shrink. Because the tape shrinks also, the necessary force is lower than without the tape. Also because the kinesiology tapes are available in bright and eye-catching colours, they became a trend.
The effect of kinesiology tape
The effect of kinesiology tape can be separated in 2 functions. These are:
Stabilisation of the muscles, joints and ligaments during movement:
Like the example of the application on the shoulder, the kinesiology tape offers a relief for injured muscles, joints or ligaments and allows us to move and do physical activities during injury. This benefit is often used by athletes, to ensure high-performance despite little injuries.
Activation und support of the human body self-healing process:
Because the kinesiology tape is applied when the targeted body parts are tensed, there occur waves, the so-called convolutions, when the treated body parts are relaxed. The result is that the skin below the adhesive surface is lifted. The lifting of the skin effect, that the lymph flow and blood circulation are increased and because of that the injured body part can be better supplied with oxygen and nutrients. Therefore the healing period can be shortened.
5 tips prior to the application of kinesiology tape
For the optimal application and effectiveness of kinesiology tape, we compiled five tips for you:
- Clean your skin to remove oil and grease, to improve the adhesive properties.
- The kinesiology tape sticks best on the skin, if the treated area is clean-shaven prior to the application. A further advantage is that the removal of the tape is easier and with less pain.
- When cutting the tape in the right size, note that you should round the corners. The effect is that the corners of the tape won’t be removed prematurely.
- Apply the kinesiology tape when the affected body part is tensed, to build as many convolutions as possible and the effectiveness of the tape is increased.
- After sticking the tape on your skin, brush multiple times with your hand over the tape. Through the frictional heat the glue bonds well with the skin and also lasts longer.
By rounding the corners, the kinesiology tape won't peel off prematurely.
This is what Kinesiology Tape consists of
In order to achieve the properties of kinesiology tape, for example in comparison to rigid tape for fixation, it depends on the composition of the material of the tapes. Our kinesiology tapes convince through excellent quality and are composed of:
- Surface: 95% cotton and 5% elastane
- Adhesive surface: wavelike applied, skin-friendly acrylic adhesive
- Elasticity: The stretchability of the tapes is approx. 40-60%.
Stability for joints and ligaments
Through the application of tape, joints and ligaments are stabilised to avoid painful movements. However, due to the elasticity of kinesiology tape, the respective body part does not feel uncomfortable and despite the stabilisation through the tape, pain-free movements are not restricted. This is a great advantage compared to classic sports tape.
Water resistant & breathable
To make the application pleasant and effective, our tapes are both breathable and waterproof. The taped skin is still supplied with oxygen even after a few days and is therefore not so heavily stressed. In addition, it is possible to shower and even bathe with the tape on without any problems.
Ideal for home use
The types of application of kinesiology tape are enormously versatile. Some physiotherapists have mastered hundreds of techniques for sticking the tape for their therapy. However, for the most common applications, with a little practice you can also apply kinesiology tape yourself at home. We have put together step by step instructions for the most common applications.
High adhesive strength
Due to the acrylic adhesive used, kinesiology tape is characterised by a high adhesive strength. This is important so that it can be applied over several days without the effect diminishing.
Very good skin compatibility
Our tapes are latex-free and have a generally good skin tolerance. Since the tape is worn for several days and during sporting activities, this ensures pleasant application.
Available in several colours
Some people attribute a special effect to the colour of the tape, but there is no medical evidence for this. However, on the one hand, tastes in colour vary from person to person, and if the taping requires several layers to be applied over certain areas, different colours can be used to help differentiate.
Important note before taping
To ensure the compatibility of the kinesiology tape with your skin, we recommend that you test a small piece of tape on your skin beforehand and leave it there for about 30 minutes.
If you experience itching or an allergic reaction, remove the kinesiology tape and stop the treatment.
